TDC Learning Centers, Inc.

FORMERLY TOPEKA DAY CARE. Serving local children and families since 1963.

Providing early education and quality care to facilitate the development of children and families to their fullest potential.

Procedural Update

Despite ongoing modifications to the governor’s executive orders and regulations from the county health department that focus on plans to reopen Kansas, TDC Learning Centers will continue with several operating procedures that were started at the earliest signs of the COVID-19 pandemic.

For the foreseeable future, all Early Learning Centers will still enforce strict health monitoring of staff, parents and children. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter. The practice of reduced group sizes to 10 of fewer in rooms, hallways and playgrounds will continue. This has worked well so far, and we have noticed numerous benefits.

The following are recommendations…social distancing, wearing of face masks, frequent washing of hands, regular use of hand sanitizer, going beyond required sanitizing/disinfecting, removal of shoes in the classroom and parents picking up or dropping off outside the classroom door.

Please check with the Center Director at your TDC site for any special considerations and specific guidelines that pertain to you or your child(ren). We thank you for being so understanding, and for taking extra measures to keep yourself and others healthy.

My sincere regards,

David George
Executive Director

As has been communicated previously, all TDC Early Learning Centers are open for children and families at this moment. We are proud to serve the Greater Topeka Community, and our mission has not changed because of these trying times. We consider it a privilege to provide early care and education to each child who comes through our doors.

While we continue to remain open, a few families have made the difficult decision to withdraw their children because of various situations including work from home, layoffs, etc. Some of these families have expressed concern about what happens next. We feel it’s important to make clear, TDC will work with families to re-enroll children who may have been withdrawn during the COVID-19 pandemic. Registration fees will be waived, but all balances will remain. Any family who utilized our services in the weeks prior to the pandemic will receive our utmost attention and first consideration for available slots. Please contact your Center Director when you know the specific date of your child’s return.

The entire staff and Board of Directors want all TDC families to know we care deeply about each of you. We are committed to providing a sense of normalcy for every child we serve, both during and after this unprecedented time, just as we have for almost six decades.

May you be well in the days and weeks ahead,

Happy Parents

"My children started with TDC in 2016, and because of generous scholarship donations we have been able to continue long-term, stable and supportive care.  Without this assistance, I would be at risk for losing my childcare services, and ultimately my job. I am so appreciative."
~ Cade R.

"Thank you for working with my family to secure this educational component, and I'm so grateful that my son can continue at TDC. It's a place we both love!"

~ Denene T.

"We love the teachers and director at our center so much. If we are ever blessed with another baby, we wouldn't think twice about sending them to a TDC site."

~ Jen L.

"I have two kids enrolled at TDC and they love it. My 3 year old has learned so much from the wonderful teachers who work there. I also get a good feeling leaving my infant with people I trust."

~ Carley V.

New rates apply to families with children at Crestview and Little Explorers only. Adventures has a corporate care agreement with locked rates, and Highland Park will keep the same price structure with scholarship offerings, teen mom subsidy and teacher discounts.

Prices beginning August 5, 2019...

Infants: $220
Toddler 1: $200 (12 months to 18 months)
Toddler 2: $190 (18 months to 2.5 years)
Preschool: $180 (2.5 years to age 4)
Pre-K: $170 (4 years and older)

IMPORTANT: Billing will change when a child hits the age milestones shown above, not when he/she moves to a new classroom.

Another hike will not be considered until August 2021, so you are guaranteed the same rates for a two-year period.

Thank you for letting us teach and care for your child!

TDC currently has a tablet with the KidReports App in every classroom (at four locations) so parents can have instant access to their child's day.

This program includes information about attendance, meals, reports, play activities, diaper changes, nap schedule, curriculum, newsletters, paperwork, photos, field trips, fundraisers and much more.

We are so excited to offer this service free of charge to our TDC families! Make sure you register for this service during enrollment, and please give us feedback after you have used this App for awhile.

TDC’s Inclement Weather Policy is intended to accommodate the needs of both families and employees. The main goal with every major weather event is to keep everyone out of harm’s way.

TDC Learning Centers may follow USD 501 from time to time, but independent choices may be reached by the Executive Director based on snow amounts, ice potential, timing of precipitation, when plows may be available and/or extreme temperature patterns.

Parents and staff members should not contact Center Directors or Main Office regarding decisions that may or may not be made. All announcements pertaining to late starts, early releases or closings will be made by 5:30am on the day affected and notices will be posted on KSNT, WIBW, Facebook, Twitter, learnplaygrow.org, eblast, group text and KidReports.

Please understand that we take many factors (besides weather conditions) into consideration to determine if we can/should open late, close early or close completely. We apologize for any inconvenience.
